The RX100M3 in Myanmar

Yes the title is correct. Yes I was in Myanmar on a round trip with my wife which latest 14 days and yes I did have my Fuji X-T1, the XF 16-55 and the XF 23 1.4 with me. But I also thought it was a great opportunity to put the diminutive Sony RX100M3 and its 1″ Sensor through its paces.

First of all how did a Fuji guy like me come to a Sony RX100M3? Well a fellow photographer told me about the Amazon deal and that the Sony was on offer at Amazon for about 550€. That was a great deal and I thought I´ll give it a try. I was not expecting much from the 1″ Sensor point and shoot. I was so, so wrong. What Sony has done with this small camera is just plain amazing and has got me thinking.

Yes I love my Fuji gear and the lenses, but do I need it. I have been a loving Fuji shooter for the past five years and have stuck with the Fuji X-System right from the beginning with the sometimes frustrating X100 to the X-Pro1, X-E1, X-T1 and now the X-Pro2. The image quality out of every single Fuji body was amazing and still is. The image quality coming off the new 24MPx Sensor in the X-Pro2 is stunning. But I have a 1700€ Body with a 1000€ lens mounted and sometimes feel that the 550€ camera is enough. I feel guilty about it and just cannot justice selling off all my Fuji gear as I feel so bonded with Fujifilm and the X-System.

The Fuji gear will be coming with me on a round trip through Ireland pretty soon and I will leave the small Sony at home, that´s how guilty I feel about betraying Fuji with Sony. I am soooooo sorry Fujifilm. Please forgive me.

Now let´s get back to the actually topic of this post. The images coming out of the Sony RX100M3 in Myanmar! Let´s get this straight. All images are taken from Raw, imported to Lightroom and then edited to my personal taste. And yes it is amazing what the raw files are capable of.
